Le groupe 56 HOP ROD, originaire d’un quartier réputé difficile d’Honiara aux Iles Salomon, sort enfin son premier album 7 ans après sa formation. Après avois acquis une certaine notoriété sur Youtube et sur les réseaux sociaux, grâce notamment à des titres comme « Secret lovers » et « Loyal Fi Jah, le groupe permet à ses fans de retrouver sur « Street intellectuals, les succès qui les ont fait connaître, mais aussi de nombreuses nouvelles compositions inédites.
56 HOP ROD souhaite que le public ressente l’énergie positive de leur musique aux travers de parôles plutôt bien écrites qui parlent de sujet actuels et sensibles, et d’une fusion de styles musicaux qui va du reggae au hip hop en passant par le dancehall.
Pour la petite histoire, 56 HOP ROD n’est autre que l’adresse de la maison de Bob Marley !
2008 – The year 56 HOP ROD first recorded a few singles and started performing on stage as a group. After a while, we have been absent in the airwaves until 2012 when “watch your back” blew the local airwaves. Early 2013, the momentum gains and “secret lover” exploded into the regional airwaves. This is one of our biggest breaks into Pacific mainstream music, and further boosted by our collaboration with the “Island girl” hit Artiste CONKARAH in our song “Link Up”. There’s no exact timing but it’s always an adventure in this musical journey and that allows us to come together. The style of music you will find in most of our songs is blended heavily with reggae sounds and a fusion of other genres including dancehall, dubstep, island and hip hop. We entertain as much as we want to share experiences through the messages in our songs. The style of music changes, and we evolve with it. We want to explore deep into the traditional sounds of the islands reflecting cultural heritage but it takes time and hope we reach that soon. Music is a soul food. We love music and growing up in diverse backgrounds, you will find it in our style of singing and songs. Music is powerful and we want to expose the positive energy in our songs.
