The III KINGS are originally from Solomon Islands and the group exists since 2006.
But it was only in 2010 that their name became familiar when they applied with their song “Magnify” for the Radio Australia’s “Pacific Break” competition, which is a program open to all unsigned artists from the Pacific. The winner of this competition wins a showcase at Fest Napuan in Vanuatu and a recording contract with Mangrove Productions, recording label based in New Caledonia and specialized in Pacific Music.
The music of III KINGS, strong “reggae roots” tainted of great vocal harmonies and spiritual lyrics, certainly seduced the judges as the group ended up the winner of the 2010 competition, amongst around 100 other artists.
This was the “real” start for them as they went, only a few weeks later, to perform successfully at the Fest Napuan in Port Vila in November 2010.
In early 2011, they signed a contract with Mangrove Productions which produced their first album, “Testify”, recorded in Honiara with Ronnie “PAEVA” Riti, a well known Solomon Islands musician (session musician with Justin Wellington, Sharzy …) and arranger (Tim Sameke and many others).
The album was mastered in Noumea and released in June 2011. A video clip of the song “You alone” was shot in Honiara. Both album and video have received great feedback on air and on the net.
The best was to come as they won an Awards for Best Reggae album of the year at “Les Flêches de la Musique”, the New Caledonia Music Awards, on December 2011.
They also been nomitated at the “Wantok music Awards” in Solomon Islands.
