“My journey in music began at an early age as I come from a very musical family, who played brass & stringed instruments in church with my outrageously talented mum and her aunties harmonizing. With a lot of love she taught me to play guitar & ukulele at the tender age of 6.With hindsight I reflect and am grateful for her vision for me.
My church & the entertainment industry here in Fiji provided me with a platform, to home in on my art as a musician, both as a singer & instrumentalist (BLACK ROSE, DIVINE). After all that exposure, some 20 years, I chose to focus on creating music using the beautiful tunes & compositions that were not exposed to the world, from my intriguing island of Rotuma.
Personally my mum instilled a profound love for my culture and its purity thus I used that to carefully guide the way I projected my renditions at times collaborating using our Fijian & Indo-Fijian chants and “vucu” to channel interest among our ethnic groups.
There is so much in music that an artist can amplify and draw from, and I am blessed to be able to be a part of that process. Bridging a gap where only music can rectify.”
« Mon voyage dans la musique a commencé dès mon plus jeune âge, car je viens d’une famille très musicale, qui jouait des cuivres et des instruments à cordes à l’église avec ma mère outrageusement talentueuse et ses tantes en harmonisation. Avec beaucoup d’amour elle m’a appris à jouer de la guitare & du ukulélé à l’âge tendre de 6 ans. Avec du recul, je réfléchis et je suis reconnaissant de sa vision pour moi.
Mon église et l’industrie du divertissement ici aux Fidji m’ont fourni une plate-forme, pour me rendre compte de mon art en tant que musicien, à la fois en tant que chanteur et instrumentiste (BLACK ROSE, DIVINE Après toute cette exposition, quelque 20 ans, j’ai choisi de me concentrer sur la création de musique en utilisant les magnifiques airs et compositions qui n’ont pas été exposées au monde, depuis mon intrigante île de Rotuma.
Personnellement, ma mère m’a inculqué un amour profond pour ma culture et sa pureté. J’ai donc utilisé cela pour guider soigneusement la façon dont je projetais mes interprétations parfois en collaborant en utilisant nos chants fidjiens et indo-fijiens et « vucu » pour canaliser l’intérêt parmi notre ethnie groupes ic.
Il y a tellement de choses dans la musique qu’un artiste peut amplifier et puiser, et j’ai la chance de pouvoir participer à ce processus. Combler un vide où seule la musique peut rectifier. ”
