Originally from Rennel, a Polynesian island in the Melanesian archipelago of Solomon Island, Tipa is a family group with Linda Puia and brother in law Stephen Puia.
Their first album “Maiae” released in 2004 took everybody by surprise with their absolutely awesome melodies and singing.
Both songwriters and singers in the group, Linda and Stephen have created a sound never listened before in the Polynesian music.
Based on their tradition and culture, their sound is unique and has gained a lkots of fans in their region.
Tipa have confirmed this creativity when they recorded “Bate Bate” in 2007 with the collaboration of David LE ROY (arranger for Black Rose and Justin Wellington) on 3 songs and they deserve to be known beyond the Pacific.
