An amazing song coming from the Solomon Islands from the mysterious artist 1978 ! The song is sung in the dialect of the Are’Are people of Southern Malaita (an island) in the Solomon Islands (The flutes are also of the Are’Are people). It is about a child who lives in the forest and from time to time would come down to the sea coast. During his occasional journeys down to the coast to see the ocean, he wonders about life, spirits and the land. Every time he returns back to his home in the forest, he would stop beside a stream to sing a lullaby, on top of a mountain to chant about praying, through a deserted village to weep for memories of old, and from cliffs of rocks to call forth the land to breathe. As he enters his village, the welcoming sound of wooden drums reminds him that, he belongs here in the forest. He is the forest and land and, why he will always be a child of the forest.
Une surprenante chanson du mystérieux artiste 1978 qui nous vient des Iles Salomon. Cette chanson est chantée dans le dialecte du peuple Are’Are du sud de l’île de Malaita aux Iles Salomon, île également des joueurs de flûte de pan. C’est l’histoire d’un enfant qui vit dans la forêt et qui, de temps en temps, descend au bord de mer. Pendant ces voyages occasionnels au bord de mer, il se pose des questions sur la vie, les esprits et la terre. A chaque fois qu’il retourne dans sa forêt il s’arrête près d’un ruisseau pour chanter une berceuse, sur le haut de la montagne pour chanter une prière, dans un village déserté pour pleurer en mémoire des anciens et lance, des falaises de rochers, un appel à la terre pour qu’elle respire. Quand il revient dans son village, le son de bienvenue des percussions lui rappelle qu’il appartient à la forêt. Il est la forêt et la terre, c’est pourquoi il sera toujours un enfant de la forêt.
